Most of the life on earth is single-celled, one single-celled organism that I found interesting from the assigned chapter is Staphylococcus aureus. It is a gram-positive bacteria that is a part of the normal flora of the human body (13.1 prokaryotic diversity - concepts of biology n.d). It is cocci and is found in clusters and capable of growing both aerobically and well as anaerobically. It is a resident flora of both mucosal membranes as well as on the skin. These organisms do not normally cause disease, however, if these organisms come in contact with blood or internal tissues, it tends to cause infection which can be very deadly.
